Massive Changes

So, in my quest to find the perfect combination of blogging software and learning a new language, I have decided to migrate this site – again – to yet another platform.

This migration was not as clean as the last few – no fault of the software that I was or am running. It was totally my mess up, and I freely admit that.

Anyways, poke around and see what you think.

  1. Thanks for the info. Yeah, Mephisto is a clean-looking system. Plus, it caches the whole pages so the frontend is really fast (don’t know if WordPress does the same thing).

  2. I started out on Blogger many moons ago – and then decided to self host with WordPress. I really like WordPress – I think that is one of the better blogging platforms out there.

I am starting to learn Ruby/Rails – so I decided to move my primary blogging platform over to it. No better way to learn the force yourself to use it, eh? :)

I tried Typo in the 2.6 era – and was not really impressed. There was not a good data migrator from WordPress.

When Typo 3 hit, I decided to take the plunge. I was underwelmed with it’s back end. It seemed to be really slow – due to a ton of AJAX calls. The front end performance was reasonable – however slower then WordPress.

I saw Mephisto, and since I am a KISS aficionado, I really groked the underlying principles.

Plus – they have cool release names! :)

  3. I’m using Mephisto as well. Found your blog via Mephisto Google Groups.

I’m interested what other blogging systems you used before and what made you move to Mephisto. Thnx.
